Is there a huge difference?
Blown Video Card?

Six out of eight capacitors were blown on this nVidia video adapter. Out if 15 systems we had with this adapter, two have blown up so far. And no warranty – the OEM went bankrupt and ceased operations.
At least there weren’t any available at that price!
The trouble call was for the user’s trackball, which no longer was being recognized by the system. Turned out it wasn’t being recognized by ANY system, so I needed to look up possible pricing for a replacement.
Thankfully, there were none available at $107,060.00.
Memory? Storage? What’s the difference?
An e-mail comes into the Helpdesk (I kid you not…):
“We need to add memory to Joe’s Mac. If possible, we would like to go with two internal 2TB drives.”
In this day and age, I don’t think it is an unreasonable expectation that someone, especially a Mac user, even more especially a Mac user in charge of a communications department, would know how to ask to have extra hard drives installed in one of the department MacPros. When I read the first sentence of the request, I thought to myself “Huh? Because 14GB of RAM wasn’t enough?”
Of course, now that I’ve done the requisition, it might take a couple of weeks for the response. By the time the approval comes back, the quote might be stale, and we can start all over again.
BECAUSE USING ALL CAPS IN EMAIL SUBJECT LINE GETS ATTENTION!!!
Especially when the Helpdesk is already short-handed and overwhelmed with requests.
The Taxman E-mailith?
Unlikely. Extremely unlikely that the IRS has e-mailed you to tell you that you missed a refund.
No longer funny
Having to clear the paper path of an automatic document feeder on an HP Scanjet 5590 for the second time in two months tells me someone is careless. Last time was a staple, but this time I couldn’t believe what I pulled out.
