An e-mail comes into the Helpdesk (I kid you not…):
“We need to add memory to Joe’s Mac. If possible, we would like to go with two internal 2TB drives.”
In this day and age, I don’t think it is an unreasonable expectation that someone, especially a Mac user, even more especially a Mac user in charge of a communications department, would know how to ask to have extra hard drives installed in one of the department MacPros. When I read the first sentence of the request, I thought to myself “Huh? Because 14GB of RAM wasn’t enough?”
Of course, now that I’ve done the requisition, it might take a couple of weeks for the response. By the time the approval comes back, the quote might be stale, and we can start all over again.
